Visual Arts for Artists 6-10
Week 3 (July 1 – 5) Explore the world of fantasy, filled with never-ending possibilities! We will closely observe several artists that create from a fantasy point of view and learn how even fantasy may be inspired by real life.
Week 4 (July 8 – 12) Across the globe mysteries surround why certain artworks were created and what purpose they served. Students will engage with several historical works of art and learn to develop their own mystery-themed art work.
Week 5 (July 15 – 19) Heroes are at the heart of stories told around the world but what of the unsung heroes? Campers will examine these little-known historical figures and then develop stories befitting their own unsung heroes.
Week 6 (July 22 – 26) During this fantastical week, artists will compare fairy tales from around the world and the narrative elements they share and then fashion their very own magical stories complete with colorful characters inspired by imagination.
Week 1 (June 17 – 21) Artists will examine artwork from a variety of countries and centuries throughout history and learn how these visual stories were shared throughout their communities.
Week 2 (June 24 – 28) This week we will explore the world of the abstract inspired by images of science fiction. Artists will draw inspiration from art and literature to create their own mythical creatures.
